Disruptiveness matters

In his book “The Social Media Mind: How social media how social media is changing business, politics and science and helps create a new world order”, David Amerland says that social media “is the empowerment of the individual at the expense of the system.”

But does the individual’s empowerment of social media always comes at the expense of the system? And, will any system, oligarch, dictatorial or democratic as it may be, learn to be empowered by social media by infiltrating this new revolution of how people decide to perform information filtering?

Revolutions always come with a price. What will be the price of the #socmed revolution?

Thanks @Europolitikus for the inspiration
