Banking union and UK’s game

My comment on Paul Mason’s blog on banking union

The integration process towards a banking union strictly depends on the UK. If (hypothetically) the UK left the EU, they would lose the very advantageous bargaining chips they are enjoying at the moment.
On the other hand, if the UK were out the EU would have a banking union the day after.
The question remains. Which is stronger: EU forced integration or British obstruction? Ms. Thatcher docet
